Different Knee Pain

Lately I've been getting more knee pain.
When I first rode trails, my knees would get pretty sore. I've since learned to relax more and put less weight on my legs. Things have gotten better.

But now I'm practicing hopping, and my knees are getting sore again. This time the soreness is on the back of my knees. In my "knee pits". Mostly just the left one. It seems to go away after a few days. But within a few hops, it comes right back.

I gather it's a sore ligament. Hopefully icing it and a break from hopping will get me back to normal. I'm going to try to keep riding, just no hopping.

Maybe my knees are weak or something. Doesn't sitting in an office chair all day strengthen your knees?

  1. Great write up! I love your videos. I am 46 and am just getting back into unicycling. It was easy to get back on and just ride, but my big issue is I am overweight and out of shape so I am working on my endurance before I venture out onto trails. I really want to muni before the snow flies here in MN.

As for your knees, have you tried wearing a supporting knee sock (not sure the exact name)? When I did Tae Kwon Do, it was an awesome support and my knees always felt better. I am wearing them while unicycling and it gives your knees and muscles around them good support.

    Keep going for it!

  2. Thanks Rick! I think I'll take your advice and buy a couple if knee "socks" or whatever they're called. Anything to help keep me going!

  3. I think they will help. The ones that are like thin neoprene worked best for me. If you ever use knee/shin protection, it protects your knee from chafing as well. I think I just got mine at a drug store.

  5. Thanks. I have been checking it out. My user name is reknoy (my last name backwards). I haven't posted anything yet because I am new.

I like reading the stuff by folks 30 years and older because they are an inspiration. Your passion and perseverance are an inspiration as well.
